Oregon Lottery Retailer Advocacy: Protecting Your Interests
A stronger voice for Oregon Lottery retailers.
For Oregon restaurants, bars, and other businesses offering Lottery games, retailer commissions and fair operating policies are important to profitability and long-term success.
The Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (ORLA) advocates on behalf of Oregon Lottery retailers to protect their interests, strengthen their business opportunities, and ensure their voices are heard in decisions that affect their operations.
Through regular meetings with Oregon Lottery leadership, participation in Lottery Commission discussions, and ongoing advocacy, ORLA works to make sure retailers have a seat at the table.
Our Lottery Retailer Advocacy Priorities
As Oregon prepares for future Lottery retailer contract negotiations, ORLA is focused on issues that directly affect your business.
Fair Penny-Rounding Implementation: ORLA successfully advocated for penny-rounding legislation and continues working with Oregon Lottery leadership to ensure the rules are implemented fairly and consistently for retailers and customers.
- Why it matters: Clear, practical guidance helps retailers avoid confusion, maintain customer confidence, and minimize operational challenges. (View Oregon Lottery's Prize Payment Guidance.)
Expanding Lottery Revenue Opportunities: ORLA is exploring opportunities to introduce progressive jackpots through the Oregon Lottery's upgraded gaming network, helping retailers benefit from new gaming options and technology.
- Why it matters: New game offerings could increase customer engagement and create additional revenue opportunities for participating retailers.
Protecting Lottery Retailer Commissions: Lottery commissions are an important source of revenue for many Oregon hospitality businesses. ORLA is advocating to protect existing retailer commission structures as the state considers competing demands for Lottery revenue.
- Why it matters: Maintaining fair retailer compensation is critical to supporting business profitability and protecting the investment retailers have made in the Lottery program.
Supporting Oregon Lottery Retailers Through Advocacy
ORLA works year-round to represent retailer interests with Lottery officials and policymakers. Our efforts include:
- Advocating to protect retailer commission rates and interests in future Lottery contracts
- Engaging directly with Oregon Lottery leadership and commissioners on issues affecting retailers
- Monitoring and responding to policy and operational changes that impact retailer businesses
- Representing retailer interests at Lottery Commission meetings
- Gathering input and priorities from retailers through ORLA's Lottery Retailer Subcommittee
