ORLA is a powerful voice on key industry issues. Our government affairs team is on the front lines promoting and protecting the foodservice and lodging industries of Oregon. By advocating for public policies that sustain our industry and educating elected officials about the issues and challenges our industry faces, we serve as the voice of hospitality at the local, state and national levels.
The 2023 Oregon Legislative Session kicks off in January with ORLA's Government Affairs Team focusing on several key issues including protecting the 70/30 split in lodging tax revenues, changes with scheduling law and health inspections, data privacy and more. Stay informed and follow our bill tracking.
ORLA has helped develop several local leadership teams that help keep members engaged and informed on local-level issues. Meals taxes, short-term rental regulations, and TLT increases are just a few of the local issues we engage with members on around the state.
ORLA works closely with our national affiliates to fight for federal policies and support relief efforts that help restaurants, lodging operators, and employees thrive in a safe and prosperous business environment. It's critical that Congress hear your stories on how these policies impact your business.
Support the PAC
Your support is critical. At the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association, we work to make sure the hospitality industry is well represented at meetings across all levels of government, but we need your help to really make a difference when it comes to blocking bad regulations and laws and fighting for good ones.
ENGAGE IN ADVOCACY
Your involvement truly makes a difference. As owners and operators, you have tremendous stories to tell and real-life experiences to share. The bills and laws elected officials consider can have a huge impact on your business and they need to hear how–straight from you. For members looking to get involved in some way in your state association there are a number of opportunities, visit our Get Involved page.
Become a State Capitol Hill Runner! ORLA is working to connect one restaurant and one lodging operator with each of the 90 legislators serving Oregonians in the state capitol, each with intention to develop personal relationships with elected officials representing their legislative district in time for the 2025 Oregon Legislative Session.
